Week 2 (9/18/16-9/24/16)

9/19 – Team Meeting

  • Decided to go with fixed panels instead of tracking – must consider how much power is needed to move panels vs. how much load we have
  • Manually adjustable or 100% fixed
  • Can buy controller for between batteries and panels

9/20 – Meeting at HMF

  • Events St. Patrick’s Day to December
  • Trailers have weight capacity that we need to consider
  • Ideally, have trailers ready for St. Patrick’s Day
  • Currently use 4 x 2 kW generators and car battery with inverter for power
  • 29 other races are not marathons, Eversource marathon is the only marathon and it is unrepresentative of their events
  • “Can” trailer goes to race basically empty, comes back w/ cans, goes to the 2nd most events
  • 4 triathlons every year, equipment for that stays in 16’ trailer all year
  • Power at least 1 speaker, often 2, at every race
  • At minimum, plug on outside of trailer for Arch air blower motor
  • Can trailer near registration, 20’ trailer at finish line
  • 4-8 laptops (they own 10) used at registration. 1 car battery can power those PCs
  • Rent a solar trailer for the Marathon – Consolidated Solar in PA
  • Glastonbury Transfer Station can measure the weights of the trailers
  • Budget is around $5000, but sponsorship is likely
  • 5k and triathlon events start at 4:30-5:00am and go until 10:30 – about 6 hour run time
  • Half Marathons are 9 hours from setup to break down
  • The Marathon is 12 hours from setup to break down
  • 20’ trailer enclosure dimensions: (WxLxH) 102 x 245 x 86 in.
  • 12’ trailer enclosure dimensions: (WxLxH) 73 x 150 x 77 in.
