1/30 – Meeting with Dr. Bazzi
- Discuss progression of system components shipped in transit to HMF.
- Scheduled day for trailers to be delivered to Depot Campus on 2/3/17.
- Determine sponsors desired number of receptacles.
- Edit system schematic with new fuse and quick disconnect switch locations.
- Awaiting a response from Midnite Solar about the possibility of using fuses in substitution for breakers, and what size fuses if possible.
- Contact battery and inverter manufacturers about short circuit characteristics to determine what fuses to use.
- Ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) was recommended by Dr. Bazzi, but SJOOW wire is an alternative option.
- Create a new bill of materials (BOM) list with system wiring components.
2/3 – Delivery of 20′ Trailer & meeting with Matt Anderson (HMF Sponsor)
- Trailer placed under hangar at C2E2.
- Inspected solar panels, charge controller, inverter.
- Batteries are expected to arrive by end of next week.
- Inspected Support Beams for the roof of the 20′ trailer.
- Mounting the solar panels in a position on the roof that would equally distribute the weight across multiple support beams.
- Mounting the charge controller in an area where it’s display is easily visible.
- Placing the batteries toward the front of the trailer and having the inverter mounted vertically and in close proximity to the batteries.
- Using a manufacturer drilled hole in the chassis to run wiring to a weather-proof receptacle box, that contains 2 sets of receptacles, located on the hitch of the trailer.
2/3 – Interview with Josh Garvey (Media Writer for School of Engineering)
- Answered questions about our progression with the senior design project
- Discussed our goals for the project and obstacles that the team has overcome
