11/28 – Team Meeting
- Determined what each team member would do to update our powerpoint for the final presentation
- Called Midnite Solar – charge controller shuts off at less than 8 V battery voltage
- Called Outback – charge controller shuts off at less than 10.5 V battery voltage
- Called DOT and fire marshalls’ offices to try to learn more about code
- Found NEC article 250.34(B) – Vehicle Mounted Generators, indicates if receptacles are on trailer then chassis ground is sufficient. Confirmed by Brian McKeon next day
- Looked into DC breakers
11/29 – Meeting with Dr. Bazzi and Matt (Matt on phone)
- HMF have decided they are either retrofitting existing trailer or buying new 9990 lb capacity trailer, so our design is unaffected.
- They will make it happen, money-wise, one way or another
- HMF are meeting with some sponsors for the new trailer and $5000 for our system
- Dr. Bazzi recommended Greenskies in Middetown as a possible sponsor
- Check if charge controller comes with some sort of DC protection between controller and battery bank
- Read article 690 for how to properly ground
- Check if inverter is rated for ungrounded system
- Try to add to our calculations the change in efficiency of solar panels based on seasonal changes
- Contact George Assard about parking trailer in lawn space or parking lot (recommended)
- Matt decided to do the billing and ordering of the components and having it shipped to his facilities so when the trailer is provided it all parts will be readily on it.
- Marcus (HMF’s radio provider) retrofit attachments onto trucks, Matt suggests he might be a person of interest to contact in regard to the DOT issue of adding panels on top of trailers.
